INTRODUCTION

Hi! My name is Samantha King and I am currently a fourth-year student, majoring in Food Technology with a minor in Computing.

I am pre-service secondary educator who values kinaesthetic and hands-on learning experiences. Due to this, I want to encourage and create an environment for students to actively engage in meaningful and practical learning. Outside of university, I partake in my own artistic endeavours such as crocheting and drawing.

As an upcoming educator forwarding into a post-digital age, I am still evolving my understanding of how technology can intentionally complement these experiences. This reflective journal has been developed to explore the influence and implications of digital technology within both contemporary society and education.

My journal is based on two driving questions in support of Gibbs' reflective cycle. Additionally, it delves into the sustainability of technological development and the risks digital environments may present to individuals, students and educators. Through personal reflection, course content and academic literature, I will take account of how my perspectives have progressed and how these insights will inform my future teaching practice.
